A Rollercoaster Beyond Belief Podcast

Our board member, Kim Wyse, was a guest on "A Rollercoaster Beyond Belief" podcast. This episode features Kim's journey through sepsis, which she developed while pregnant, and her diagnosis with Crohn's disease.

During this episode, Kim emphasized the importance of raising awareness, building strong support systems and her ongoing advocacy for sepsis survivors and their families through the Irish Sepsis Foundation. She also spoke candidly about her facing pregnancy while managing an autoimmune disease, enduring severe sepsis and dealing with the mental health challenges that followed her recovery.

This podcast sheds light on the profound impact sepsis can have on survivors. Kim's story is both a cautionary tale and a message of resilience, aiming to educate listeners on recognising sepsis symptoms and the critical need for early treatment.

Sepsis Foundation on Ireland AM

Our board member Conor Callaghan represented the Irish Sepsis Foundation on Ireland AM on World Sepsis Day, who spoke about his own experience with sepsis, bringing much needed awareness to the critical issue of sepsis. Conor had sepsis in 2023 and it caused issues with his heart, which resulted in him having two open heart surgeries.

Conor was joined by Dr. Aidan Grufferty, who is a doctor based in Tallaght University Hospital, highlighted the urgent need for more awareness around sepsis. This appearance highlighted the importance of early detection and prompt treatment, and where Conor shared his powerful story, shedding light on the life changing impact of sepsis. By reaching a wide audience, we aim to educate the public and healthcare professionals alike, empowering everyone with the knowledge to recognise sepsis symptoms and potentially save lives.

Board members of the Irish Sepsis Foundation attended The 8th National Sepsis Summit in Dublin Castle. The National Sepsis Summit theme for this year was 'Early Treatment Saves Lives' which is such an important statement for the public and health care professionals.
